Flanders was guest of honor at this year’s edition of the Cartoon Movie Forum in Bordeaux (8-10 March), Europe’s prime pitching and co-production platform for animated features. This demonstrates the high esteem that Flanders enjoys in the international animation industry.

The attending animation producers presented themselves during the event as the ‘Flandriens of Animation’. No less than three Flemish projects and five co-productions were pitched during these two-days of successive presentations and intensive meeting and greetings between directors, producers and distributors.

The spotlight on Flanders was organized by Screen Flanders, an initiative under the aegis of Economic Affairs Minister Philippe Muyters and Minister of Culture Sven Gatz, in co-operation with Casa Kafka Pictures, Galaxy Studios, t-theater, Ketnet, Creative Europe Desk Flanders and the General Representation of the Government of Flanders in France.

On behalf of the Government of Flanders, the General Representative in France, Mr. Filip D’havé, delivered at the start of the two-day Forum an opening address launching the ‘Flandriens of Animaton’ and offered a well-attended Farewell Cocktail the last evening.
