Regleg (‘Regions with Legislative Power’) is a network of 73 European regions with legislative power that focuses on achieving more involvement of these regions in the European decision-making process.
Regleg functions as a European forum for official and political consultation between regions with legislative power regarding general EU affairs. In this context, it follows the institutional innovations in the Treaty of Lisbon, in particular the elements that relate to the opportunities for participation for the regions.
A coordination committee with official representatives from 20 regions meets on a regular basis. Every year, the presiding region organises a conference to which all Minister-Presidents of the regions are invited. Traditionally, a political declaration is adopted on that occasion.
In 2008, Flanders presided over Regleg and in 2011, the Brussels-Capital Region held the presidency.Share with others
