Within the Flemish Department of Foreign Affairs, the Tourism Unit contributes to diverse policy documents, such as the policy memorandum and the policy paper, through the provision of information regarding tourism and the redaction of drafts.

The Flemish Department of Foreign Affairs is responsible for the active monitoring of the tourism initiatives by a number of authoritative international organisations, notably UNWTO, EU and OECD. By means of a newsletter, the Flemish Department of Foreign Affairs wants to keep interested parties up-to-date of the tourism-related activities of these bodies.
With regard to research, the Flemish Department of Foreign Affairs has the Flemish Support Centre for Foreign Policy, Tourism and Recreation at its disposal, an instrument that can provide crucial information that is required for the preparation of the policy. The Flemish Support Centre for Foreign Policy, Tourism and Recreation is an initiative taken by the Flemish authorities, with the intention of underpinning the policy scientifically.
In addition, the Department supports the Minister in his or her parliamentary activities. In cooperation with the Minister's Office and Tourism Flanders-Brussels, it provides information that can be used by the Minister in answers to written questions, requests for explanation and interpellations.
Finally, the Department also helps in drawing up the documentation for official visits, foreign missions and the receptions of foreign delegations. To this end, close cooperation is set up with Tourism Flanders-Brussels.Share with others
