Subsidies for Flemish artists and arts organisations
Since the new Art Decree in 2016, the Government of Flanders offers two kinds of subsidies to support foreign organisations for the presentation of Flemish based artists and art companies:
- Project subsidy: supports costs linked to the presentation of artists, generally focused on travel, accommodation and transport. There are three deadlines for applications:
o 15 January: projects starting from 1 May
o 15 May: projects starting from 1 September
o 15 September: projects starting from 1 January of the next year
- Subsidy for an international public presentation: a smaller scale instrument for a maximum support of €7000. You can apply for this subsidy up to two months in advance.
All applications have to be submitted via the online platform KIOSK: https://cjsm.be/kiosk/public/login.cjsm.
You will have to create an account and a representation. The representation authorizes a person to legally apply for an organisation. Afterwards, you can create a file and choose for which subsidy you are applying. Please note that you can already submit your application before you have received the authorization code linked to the representation. As it is sent by post, you can confirm this after submitting.
In addition to subsidies by the Government of Flanders and British authorities and institutions, there is also Creative Europe to foster cultural collaboration. It is the European Union's programme to support the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors. From 2014-2020, €1.46 billion is available to support European projects with the potential to travel, reach new audiences and encourage skill sharing and development.
