WWI symposium in Cardiff

The WWI symposium that took place on 9 November in Cardiff was supported by the Cardiff University, the Government of Flanders and the Welsh Government. The academic symposium applied in the broader commemoration of the Passchendaele campaign of July-November 1917, 100 years ago. It highlighted the experiences of Flemings and Welshman during the first World War. Several speakers delved deeper into the experiences of the Welsh soldiers in Flanders, the hosting of Belgian refugees in Wales, as well as the wider social and literary context. Besides speakers of Cardiff University, there were also guests of University College London, Swansea University, Catholic University Leuven and independent researchers and interested parties attending the symposium in Cardiff.
