Flemish Biodiversity Portal officially launched

The Flemish Biodiversity Portal was launched on 11 February and provides centralised access to biodiversity data from Flanders. During the launch event, attended by more than 200 people, the portal was presented and its possibilities for research and nature conservation were explained. Among other things, the platform brings together validated observations from more than 300 datasets, thereby supporting policy decisions and scientific research.

Users are enthusiastic about the practical application of the portal: soon, some of the municipalities in the province of Antwerp will use it to quickly identify which invasive alien species are present in their territory. This illustrates how the portal not only collects data, but also provides concrete support for local nature management.

The Flemish Biodiversity Portal is being further developed by INBO in close collaboration with other entities from the Environment Policy Domain, the provinces and other Flemish actors, as well as with GBIF, the Atlas of Living Australia and the Living Atlas community. This strengthens international links and knowledge exchange.

Take a look at the Biodiversity Portal. If you would like to see your data appear on the Flemish Biodiversity Portal or if you would like to give us feedback, please contact Support.
