BioAgora launches a new knowledge network focusing on agriculture and biodiversity
BioAgora is a European research project developing a Science Service for Biodiversity for the European Commission. The European Commission funds a great many research projects, but has noted that the results of these projects are not yet being sufficiently incorporated into policy. This science service aims to change that.
The Science Service for Biodiversity will be the scientific arm of the Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity, which forms part of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. It brings independent, scientifically underpinned knowledge closer to policy-making. The service is primarily aimed at the European Commission, but is also available to other policymakers. The Science Service operates through interaction between knowledge holders and policymakers. It will serve as a new science-policy-society interface that develops various activities, including addressing knowledge-related enquiries from the European Commission and other policymakers.
The Knowledge Exchange Networks will play a key role in this. These networks connect research projects, knowledge networks and experts working on specific themes, enabling them to jointly address knowledge-related enquiries from the European Commission and other policymakers.
On 29 and 30 September 2026, the Knowledge Exchange Network on Agroecosystems will be launched at INBO. Representatives from projects and networks focusing on agroecosystems, as well as from the European Commission and other levels of government, will take part in this kick-off meeting. Together, they will shape the Knowledge Exchange Network.
