Verplicht natuurherstel in de steden: een kerntaak voor Vlaanderen
The European Nature Restoration Regulation makes urban nature restoration a major policy challenge for Flanders. This article discusses the quantitative requirements for urban green space and tree canopy cover and argues that the ecological and societal effectiveness of urban nature should also be monitored. Drawing on the Regulation, it identifies principles for biodiversity, climate adaptation, health and basic ecological quality in urban ecosystem areas.
