Thuis is in deze constructie een bijwoord van plaats dat bij jou nader bepaalt: ‘niet bij jou op het werk of bij jou op school, maar bij jou thuis'. Op dezelfde manier zeggen we ook bij mij thuis, bij hem thuis of bij Lisa thuis. Thuis kan in deze constructies worden weggelaten zonder dat er aan de betekenis iets fundamenteels verandert. Bijvoorbeeld: We gaan bij hem (thuis) naar het voetbal kijken; Met hoeveel kinderen zijn ze nu weer bij Lisa (thuis)?; Bij jou (thuis) of bij mij (thuis)?
