Certificate of competence for post-insulation of external walls from the inside

A contractor who post-insulates external walls from the inside can obtain a ‘certificate of competence’ after having attended the relevant training course and passed an examination.

Anyone who wants to request a subsidy from Fluvius for post-insulation of external walls from the inside must

  • either hire an architect to supervise the works and monitor their execution
  • or have the work done by a contractor who holds a certificate of competence.

Conditions

Anyone who wishes to obtain a ‘certificate of competence’ must:

  • attend an accredited training course
  • pass an accredited examination
  • have at least 1 month of practical experience.

The certificate is valid for 7 years.

Procedure

You can choose to attend a short (at least 1 hour) or a long training course (at least 7 hours). You can take the examination twice before you are required to attend the training course again. If you fail the examination twice, you are required to attend the long training course before you can sit the examination again.

The Energy and Climate Agency of Flanders (VEKA) offers a non-mandatory orientation test to check whether your ready knowledge is sufficient for you to only attend the short training course.

For practical information about dates, enrolment, tuition fees, etc. you can contact the training institution itself.
