The Agency for Care and Health recognises the psychiatric hospitals in Flanders and one psychiatric hospital in the Brussels-Capital Region. A psychiatric hospital offers treatment and care for patients with severe mental problems. The hospitals have specialised units for this.
The implementation and monitoring of compulsory admission ((opens in new window)) to a psychiatric hospital comes entirely under the authority of the Flemish Care Inspectorate (Dutch: Zorginspectie).
You can find further information on psychiatric hospitals ((opens in new window)) on the Agency for Care and Health website.
