Definitions
Cattle stock, pig stock, poultry stock: this refers to the total number of animals kept on farms (snapshot).
The number of animals on a farm is allocated to the municipality where the farm has its headquarters.
Remarks on quality
The data are collected by Statbel and are drawn from administrative databases, in combination with targeted surveys. For the animal statistics (cattle stock, pig stock and poultry stock), the reference period changed in 2014. Up to and including 2013, the statistics referred to the situation in May of the observed year. From 2014 onwards, the reference period changed to October/November of the observed year.
