GRO 2025: Belgium’s new reference for sustainable buildings is a fact!
We’re proud to announce the launch of the first unified version of GRO for Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels!
GRO is Belgium’s sustainability tool for future-proof buildings. Building on the success of the Flemish version, this tool helps integrate sustainability into construction projects—from concept to completion. Whether it’s a school, an apartment building, an office, or a cultural institution, new build or renovation—GRO is versatile and supports projects in every phase.

With GRO, sustainability takes center stage in every construction or renovation project.
- Clear approach: A modular system that integrates sustainability throughout the entire lifecycle of a project—from concept to execution.
- Broad applicability: GRO is a tool for all scales and functions, from large new-build projects to targeted renovations—whether residential, commercial, or public.
- User-friendly: Clear guidelines and calculation sheets make it easy to define and track sustainability goals.
What are the new features in this version?
- Harmonization and alignment of criteria across the three regions.
Introduction of three LEVELS: Analysis, Concept, Design. This ensures the right approach and depth at the right time.
Instead of the previous People, Planet, and Profit categories, there are now 8 themes, with Circular Building and Climate Responsive Design as newcomers.
The focus remains on flexibility and practicality, allowing users to tailor GRO to their specific needs.

GRO 2025 was developed thanks to the collaboration of the Agency for Facility Operations, Service Public de Wallonie, and Leefmilieu Brussel, with expert input from architects and construction professionals across the country.
