Quality control of regulations through monitoring and assessment
For several decades improving the quality of legislation has been a priority, on the European as well as on the political agenda of Flanders.The introduction of the RIE in the regulatory landscape in Flanders allows for a timely identification of gaps in existing regulations. The RIE is a proactive quality control tool designed to ensure that the regulations continuously comply with the eight characteristics of qualitative regulations. Proactive entails that the RIE intervenes before a shortcoming in the regulations will start to visibly escalate.
