Mentor reduction

The mentor reduction (Dutch: mentorkorting) has been abolished since 1 July 2023 and replaced by the premium for qualifying workplace learning (in Dutch).

‘Mentorkorting’ was a reduction in the contributions to the National Social Security Office (NSSO) for employers who organise workplace training, using one or more experienced employees as mentor or trainer. It concerns training for specific target groups of employees, e.g. trainees from full-time secondary education, young people with an apprenticeship contract or secondary school teachers doing a work placement.

By reducing the NSSO contributions, the authorities want to encourage employers to open up their companies or institutions to workplace training. In this way, they help reduce the unqualified outflow from education and offer young job seekers further training.
