Requesting a refund for Flemish training leave as an employer

An employee in the private sector may, under certain conditions, be absent from work in order to follow training, while their salary continues to be paid. As an employer, you can be refunded a fixed amount of EUR 21.30 per hour in compensation of this Flemish training leave (Dutch: Vlaams opleidingsverlof).

Conditions

The training course must be registered in the ‘Training course database of Flemish training incentives' (in Dutch).

Procedure

The amount is refunded in four stages:

  • Calculate together with the employee the number of hours of Flemish training leave, and schedule the leave
  • Submit a refund request
  • Register the Flemish training leave taken in the quarterly multifunctional declaration (Dutch: multifunctionele aangifte/DmfA) for each quarter
  • Refund by the Flemish authorities

Employers may submit refund requests within 3 months after the start of the training.
