Lifelong learning takes place in the workplace. The recently opened training centre at Pfizer Puurs is a good example of one of the results of the investments made under the Flemish Resilience plan. In the training centre, employees can maintain their technical interventions but also, for example, learn new methodologies in pneumatics. This way, they not only stay abreast of the latest technologies, but are also challenged to be among the best in making innovations possible.

An investment in local talent. Flanders has been investing in research and development for a long time. But now, for the first time ever, it is exceeding the target of spending 3% of GDP on research and development. This is an important milestone, placing Flanders far above the European average and second only to Sweden in Europe. Exceeding the 3% target puts us more firmly on the map, while attracting foreign investment and enhancing the competitiveness of Flanders’ players.

Flemish Minister for Innovation Hilde Crevits “If all partners join forces, we can within 10 years be the centre of Europe in terms of care of the future.”
