Flanders Trainee Programme amounts
The Flanders Trainee Programme grant consists of a one-off amount for travel expenses and a monthly amount for living expenses. They are lump sums, meaning they are set in advance.
Travel expenses amount
If your internship is within Europe (all Council of Europe member states, Belarus, and Kosovo), you will receive a one-off payment of €200 for travel expenses incurred. If the internship is located outside Europe, you will receive €500 for it. If your internship is in Belgium, you will not be reimbursed for travel expenses.
Living expenses amount
The grant for the living expenses consists of monthly amounts that are set annually. Those amounts are multiplied by the number of months your internship is active.

Payment
Payment is made via bank transfer to the bank account you specified in the application, in two instalments:
You will receive the first instalment of 85% of the total grant amount after your grant application is approved.
You will receive the second instalment of 15% after your internship, after you have submitted your internship report and the internship supervisor’s evaluation report.
Lead time
The average administrative lead time for a grant application is three weeks.
You can submit your grant application up to six months before the start of your internship.
You can also apply if your internship has already started. However, you will only be paid for the remaining period of your internship. The remaining period must be at least two months.
