More wheels, two wheels

The Agency for Facility Operations encourages its staff and building users to always travel in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way, both for commuting and work-related trips. Visitors are also made aware of the importance of coming to the buildings sustainably.

What does The Agency for Facility Operations do to enable colleagues to travel sustainably and environmentally friendly?

  • Encouraging teleworking to reduce the number of commutes and enabling virtual meetings and collaboration,

  • Providing free service bikes and subscriptions to bike-sharing systems for work-related travel,

  • Offering quality cycling facilities,

  • Providing accessibility information for office buildings via sustainable options (bike, public transport, etc.),

  • Implementing a car-disincentive and bike-encouraging parking policy.

The Agency for Facility Operations has established a cycling policy that sets quality standards for cycling facilities. With this policy, the agency aims to promote cycling as a means of transport for commuting and work-related travel, both for main and partial trips. In addition, the cycling policy creates a general framework for cycling facilities such as bike parking, changing and shower rooms, and service bikes.

To put the cycling policy into practice, the Agency draws up an annual cycling action plan focused on encouraging cycling and improving cycling facilities.

Our commitments

  • to apply the guidelines for bicycle facilities as much as possible in all new buildings managed by the Agency for Facility Operations

  • to apply the guidelines for bicycle facilities as much as possible during renovations of existing buildings managed by the Agency

  • to implement the guidelines for bicycle facilities in existing buildings through a multi-year plan, depending on available resources, and as much as possible

To measure the progress and impact of the bicycle policy, the Agency for Facility Operations will survey end users every 3 years. Additionally, the bicycle facilities will be evaluated annually, the usage of service bikes will be monitored and assessed, and mobility flows to the sites will be tracked.
