Checklist Accessible Conferences (MICE)

Country/region: Belgium - Flanders

Year:

  • 2018: ‘Toegankelijke meetings en congressen - Een checklist’ (Dutch)
  • 2025: ‘Accessible Conferences 2.0’ (English)

This checklist (in Dutch) provides meeting locations and conference organisers a handhold to organise fully accessible conferences, starting from two major accessibility principles: Universal Design and the chain of accessibility.

Accessibility efforts benefit not only customers with disabilities, but everyone. You have to take care of every aspect and make sure that it is coherent.

Everyone must be able to fully participate in the substantive and social program of your meeting or congress – that sometimes requires extra facilities.

For international conferences and participants, the follow-up publication Accessible Conferences 2.0 offers a more comprehensive and up-to-date resource.

It expands on the original publication with practical information on accessible travel to and within Belgium, medical support services, accessible tourism, and other key considerations for multi-day international conferences.
