SnoYak

Country/region: US

Year: 2021

The SnoYak is an adapted ski that gives people with paralysis the feeling of being able to ski upright. Instead of legs stretched out in front, the legs are tucked under the body – which gives a more upright, active skiing position.

Four models:

  • FreeRider: Ideal for people with limited upper body strength. .
  • LowRider: Similar to the FreeRider, but with a different seat design. Suitable for both people with and without disabilities.
  • High-Performance model: For sporty skiers without disabilities or for those with limited leg function, but still looking for speed and challenge.
  • Traditional sit ski: A more classic sit ski with a higher profile, for those looking for more support or a different seating comfort.

The design is based on the principles of Universal Design: accessible, inclusive and suitable for everyone – regardless of disability or experience.
