Incorporation of office buildings

The Agency for Facility Operations will manage the real estate of the Flemish government. This is a concrete action under the Flemish Energy and Climate Plan, aimed at reducing the CO₂ emissions of Flemish government buildings by 40% by 2030 compared to 2015.
In the first phase, the Agency will take over the real estate management of office buildings.

The goal following the integration is:

To optimize the use of resources at the portfolio level in terms of real estate management, energy costs, technical maintenance, rent, acquisition costs, and more.
To reduce the total cost per FTE for the Flemish government’s real estate.
To provide all Flemish government departments with high-quality housing and offer all employees a pleasant and functional working environment — which is, after all, a core mission of the Agency for Facility Operations.
