DECIDe

DECIDe (Data Driven Exploration in Contextual Information on Decisions) aims to prove that when government decisions are shared as linked open data ready for (re)use, they can fuel better policies, more efficient public services, and more informed, engaged citizens.

The project wants to demonstrate this by building both the technical foundation and real-world examples of how a dataspace can make information flow seamlessly between local authorities, citizens, and businesses.

By August 2026, DECIDe will put a system in place to make local decisions machine-readable, which will directly benefit citizens and businesses by sharing and re-using the data securely through a trusted dataspace (a digital ecosystem where different organisations can share, link, and (re)use data without losing control over it).

Use cases

  • Dataspace Set-Up

We start by building the core infrastructure that allows decisions to be shared in a consistent, secure, and machine-readable way.

  • Policy Impact Report

Using the structured data from the dataspace, we will visualise how local decisions influence broader (sustainability) policy goals and outcomes.

  • Mapping Local decisions and legislations to geo-locations

    Restricted mobility zones

To make city life more enjoyable and navigable, DECIDe will connect local decisions about access zones, car-free areas, or traffic regulations to (interactive) maps. This allows citizens and companies to instantly see which rules apply where and when.

  • Widget for Subsidy Eligibility

    Climate-friendly renovations for private home-owners

For private property owners, we’ll develop a simple overview of available renovation and sustainability subsidies. The widget will allow residents to quickly find relevant support programs, encouraging climate-friendly renovations.
