Step-by-step guide for registration

  • Stap 1

Download the justification form for your bachelor’s or master’s thesis or final project and complete it.

The completed form is crucial to the selection process. It is the text in which you explain why your thesis or final project deserves to win the Future Proef Award. The jury makes a first assessment based on this form. We also use this information to communicate about your thesis or final project if you are nominated.

Keep the assessment criteria and the sustainability compass close at hand while completing the form. This will increase your chances of winning an award.

Save the justification form regularly on your own computer. Once you are finished, save your document as a PDF.

  • Stap 2

In addition to the completed justification form from step 1, prepare the following documents to upload with the registration form:

    • A digital copy of your thesis or final project, as a PDF, if you have a written thesis or final project.
    • Images and/or photos from your thesis or final project, or images that match your work, for publication on our website if you are nominated. If you did not create the image or photo yourself, please add the source. We need at least one image or photo in landscape format, ideally in a 16:9 ratio, to use as a thumbnail on the overview page.
    • Other attachments. These are especially important if you do not have a written thesis or final project, for example a written description, presentation, PDF, photos or video. Even if you do have a written thesis or final project, you may provide extra material to help visualise your results.

    Files larger than 30 MB?

If your files are larger than 30 MB in total, you won’t be able to upload them directly through the form. In that case, please include a download link in the designated field in the registration form. Make sure the link is valid indefinitely and accessible to anyone (so do not use a WeTransfer link from a free account).

  • Stap 3

Are you submitting group work? Enter the name of one contact person who can be contacted on behalf of the whole group. You can also add the names of all group members.

Your details will be forwarded to your higher education institution. They will keep you informed about the next steps in the pre-selection process. By submitting your online application, you automatically give the Department of Environment permission to share your details with your institution. These data will only be used in the context of the Future Proef Award.

Important: make sure you have all documents from steps 1 and 2 at hand, as you will need to upload them when submitting your online application.

  • Stap 4

You will receive a confirmation email at the address you provided. This means that we have received your registration.

At the end of 2026, your institution will let you know whether you have been selected for the Flemish-level selection round.

    Good luck!
