The InvasionsLab team conducts research into the ecology, impact and management of invasive alien species in Flanders. We work with species from both aquatic and terrestrial environments, studying both plants and animals. Our research supports policy and management relating to biological invasions, with a particular focus on European Regulation No 1143/2014. To this end, we collaborate with other research institutions, regional authorities and land managers. Our scientific insights contribute to sustainable prevention, early detection, effective control and the restoration of affected ecosystems. In this way, we aim to limit the impact of invasive species and strengthen biodiversity in Flanders.
