INBO launches the Flemish Biodiversity Portal

On February 11, 2026, the INBO will launch the Flemish Biodiversity Portal. The portal brings together historical and recent observations with valuable scientific data and information in one central location. This creates an overview of biodiversity in Flanders that can support researchers, policymakers, nature managers, and nature lovers.

The portal offers more than just data. Each species is accompanied by a clear explanation, and simple analysis tools allow you to discover trends and patterns. In addition, you can compile species lists and explore and visualize data geographically, supported by a large number of maps that have been made available. The information is regularly updated, as is the validation status of the data, giving the portal an increasingly complete picture of Flemish biodiversity.

An important additional advantage is that users can explore nature in their own environment. By clearly bundling all the information, it becomes easier to gain insight into where species occur and how their distribution changes over time.

The Flemish Biodiversity Portal offers real added value, as it makes a lot of scientific data available that was previously less accessible. In the coming years, we want to further expand the platform with additional applications and new data sources. Feedback and ideas are therefore very welcome.

We would like to invite you to attend the launch of this portal on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Herman Teirlinck Building in Brussels. Participation is free, but advance registration is required so that we can organize catering without waste:
