SIAL, the world's leading trade fair for the food industry, brings together all the key players, identifying the latest culinary and innovative trends to be followed closely. Belgian suppliers will present their products to the distribution and catering professionals and will participate for 5 days in what can be considered the widest range of food products in the world.
France, a key partner
France is one of Belgium's main trading partners in the food industry, accounting for 20% of our exports worldwide. For some products, such as meat, France is our main export destination.
Meat
Belgium is one of France's top three suppliers. The most important products are carcasses and half carcasses as well as fresh and chilled boneless beef.
Belgium exports more than 40 million euros worth of pork meat per year, or more than 20,000 tonnes in 2021. The main products are fresh and frozen boneless meat, followed by frozen boneless meat and pork fat.
Poultry
France is Belgium's largest market for poultry meat. Belgium is the most important supplier with a 25% share of total French poultry imports in 2021. Belgium exports more than 150,000 tonnes of poultry meat to France each year. Exports are on the rise.
Dairy products
France is also our second largest market for dairy products. The value of dairy exports to France is continuing its upward trend with annual sales of over €700 million. The main products for France are butter and milk fat, cheese and cream.
