Details
Agouti offers professional tools for managing camera trap research. Its greatest asset is the grouping and recognition of species in wildlife camera images. Currently, Agouti's focus is mainly on scientific research. In addition, camera traps are also often used by social scientists, for example in gardens. These images potentially contain a lot of information about the distribution of mammal species. Because Agouti is currently not very accessible to citizen scientists and the Natuurpunt's waarnemingen.be portal does not currently support camera trap images, a lot of biodiversity data remains untouched. INBO and Natuurpunt want to work together to make the Agouti platform easily accessible for citizens to upload camera trap images. The automatic image recognition that is already available in Agouti can be used to automatically suggest which species are in the images, after which they are validated. A link to observation.org allows volunteers to export observations to their profile.
