Evaluation of the Fish Spiral Sluice Gate as a fish migration facility under experimental conditions.

In this project, we are evaluating a newly designed type of compact fish passage to bridge locks between 1 and 10 metres in height. The tests were carried out in a test setup at the company Vandezande, the builder/developer of this fish passage.The Flemish company Vandezande developed a prototype of a new innovative fish migration system, based on the design of an upright screw with a few slides, which enables fish migration at obstacles where little space and/or flow is available. Vandezande contacted INBO to carry out an initial independent evaluation of the operation of their prototype under laboratory conditions. The prototype was built and hydraulically tested over the past few months at their premises in Diksmuide.
