Data Package (https://datapackage.org) is a generic standard to describe datasets and tabular data files. It forms the basis for specialized standards such as Camtrap DP and Darwin Core Data Package. Version 2 of the standard was released in June 2024, but is not yet supported by software. In this project we will update the R package "frictionless" (https://docs.ropensci.org/frictionless/) with read, convert, edit and write functionality for version 2, thereby removing the current blockers of using Data Package version in R. This project is supported the Open Knowledge Foundation, through funds provided by NLnet.
