3+30+300 Rule: an exploration of proposed methodologies & its relevance to holistic urban planningThe study aims to provide a comparative analysis of different GIS-methodologies that have been proposed for measuring the 3+30+300 rule, with a focus on how appropriate these methods are for aligning sustainability and urban greening initiatives with urban development and spatial planning goals.
The specific objectives of the study are:
1. Provide a comprehensive comparison of various GIS-methodologies that can be used to measure the 3+30+300 rule.
2. Evaluate these methods using the 3R’s quality criteria identified by the Values Assessment (VA) of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), namely the relevance, robustness and resource efficiency of each method in the context of urban greening goals.
3. Offer practical recommendations to assist municipal and regional policymakers, urban designers and architects, spatial planners and organisations interested in urban greening endeavours in choosing an appropriate method for measuring the 3+30+300 rule.
