Details

The Species Decree of 15 May 2009 provides for the possibility of establishing a species protection programme (SBP). The measures in such a programme ensure that one or more specific species in Flanders thrive. Today, 26 official species protection programmes are in force in Flanders and the SBP European turtle dove is one of them. Increasing knowledge about the ecology, lifestyle and population sizes in Flanders receives the necessary attention in this SBP. INBO supports the following actions from the SBP:
Action 2.6 : Evaluate the effectiveness of measures to improve the foraging area of European turtle doves.
Action 3.1 : Increase knowledge regarding biotope preferences and the diet of European turtle doves.
