Meervoudig waarderingskader voor houtkanten. Op naar een gedragen en evenwichtige waardering van houtkanten in het Vlaamse buitengebied

Hedegrows are crucial to the landscape: they provide wood, food, serve as boundaries, and help address ecological and climatic challenges. Despite their importance, their number and quality have declined in recent decades. That is why the Flemish Hedgerow Plan aims to re-establish hedgerows in the landscape, among other things by raising awareness and increasing support.

This report explores the multiple values of hedgerows (intrinsic, instrumental, relational) and provides a framework for valuation based on the IPBES conceptual framework. Through literature research and interviews, the report identifies values for various stakeholders. This demonstrates how hedgerows can be robustly and multifacetedly valued, which promotes participation and successful policy measures. The report emphasizes that valuation is context-specific and that further elaboration of the framework will support concrete measures of the Hedgerow Plan.
