Hydra – (over)compensation in managed populations

Details

Ecological insights indicate that population control efforts can sometimes be ineffective or even counterproductive: for each individual removed, one or more may appear in its place (the Hydra effect). This project investigates whether such (over)compensation also occurs in invasive alien species in Flanders. It aims to make these insights more accessible to the community of managers, in order to develop more efficient control strategies and prevent the waste of resources.
