The midwife toad is listed in Annexes II and IV of the European Habitats Directive. In accordance with the IUCN guidelines and the joint ANB/INBO guidance, established populations should be monitored through a specific, population-focused monitoring programme that is separate from the ongoing monitoring carried out to determine regional trends (the so-called monitoring networks).| Status | Running |
