Details

Through synergy between nature-based and nature-inclusive coastal defence, sustainable water management and nature development, this project aims to achieve substantial gains in coastal nature, which will also offer added value for tourism and recreation in the form of more space and greater landscape and nature experience value.
Steps:
- Description of recent landscape changes over the past decades and translation into concrete bottlenecks for nature
- Creation of a potential map for habitats and species in the shallow sea (between coastal banks and foreshore), including outside the current Natura 2000 network
- Drawing up a potential map for the restoration of natural processes, the development of coastal-specific habitats and species of beaches, estuaries, mud flats, salt marshes and dunes, including outside the current Natura 2000 network
- Describing the measures needed to realise the nature potential maps in the shallow sea and on land
- Assessing the social feasibility of realising the nature potential maps through sectoral consultation
