Details

Sandwich tern, an Annex I species of the Birds Directive, is one of the species in Europe most severely affected by highly-pathogenic avian influenza. The aim of this PhD is to investigate the population dynamics of the species in order to assess its longer-term impact. Moreover, as food specialists, sandwich terns are potentially sensitive to the effects of climate change. A second part of this PhD therefore focuses on food ecology and the potential impact on it of warmer sea water temperatures.
