Safer & Sounder - Extending Camtrap DP for the exchange of bioacoustics data

Safer and Sounder will extend the existing Camera Trap Data Package (Camtrap DP) standard for bioacoustic data.Bioacoustic data are being collected increasingly, but exchange and publication to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) are severely hampered by the lack of a widely adopted standard. Thanks to a previous pilot project, Safe and Sound, we know that there is a high demand for this standard and that the substantive basis is already in place.
In this project, we aim to reach community consensus on the necessary changes to the standard, through public discussions on GitHub. To promote standard adoption, we will adapt essential software tools for Camtrap DP v2, including camtrapdp, Agouti, GBIF IPT and Wild Album.
The final result will be a new release of Camtrap DP (v2) that supports bioacoustic data.
