Korte-omloophout in België. Evaluatie van kansen, belemmeringen en gevolgen
In short-rotation coppice (SRC) cultivation, you will plant fast-growing trees very close together and cut them off every few years to produce a lot of wood in a short time. The biomass produced can be used for more and more things thanks to new technologies. SRC sequesters carbon in the soil, increases biodiversity locally and in the landscape, and can purify water. There are also drawbacks to SRC, yet we believe that with the right incentives, changes in legislation and financial compensation, biomass from SRC could play a necessary role in the future green economy.
