Winterbegrazing met schapen. Samenwerking voor landbouw en natuur

Sheep are increasingly being used for nature and green space management during the summer, but during the winter, with its limited grass growth, feeding the flock is a challenge.
The INBO, together with a number of partners, looked at new possibilities for winter grazing: winter cereals, grass seed cultivation, permanent and temporary grassland, green cover crops, fodder crops, options in nature reserves and other public and/or private land.
The participants concluded that the use of sheep in winter has many advantages, including for climate adaptation and mitigation and for reducing pesticide use.
