Growth dynamics and wood quality of trees (WOODLAB)
Details
In collaboration with the UGent Wood Technology Laboratory (WOODLAB), the following research is being carried out: (a) Study of the growth dynamics (based on annual ring analysis) of native oaks in the Limburg dunes. The aim of this research is to gain insight into the reaction of oak to the predicted dryer summers. This knowledge is also important for drawing up the right management measures in the light of climate adaptation. b) Study of the chemical and physical wood quality of fast-growing tree species as a source for the production of bioenergy (1st and 2nd generation biofuel) and bio-based materials. This study is based on the genotypes of poplar and willow obtained through selection and breeding. (c) Wood quality study of poplar and willow cultivars with a view to the commercialisation of new cultivarsStatus | Uitgevoerd |
