Commercialization and development of fast growing woody species

(photo INBO)
Details
Since 1948, INBO has been conducting research on the breeding of poplar and willow species for the production of industrially high-quality wood, biomass for bioenergy, and recently also for second-generation biofuels. The selection process (20 years) takes place in different phases: performing crosses, selection at seedling level, selection at clone level in the pilot nursery and selection at pre-commercial level where candidate cultivars are planted and monitored at different locations. This project aims to introduce different cultivars to the market in the period 2014-2029.Status | Running |
