Effecten van sedimentatie en erosie op macrozoöbenthos in de Zeeschelde. Resultaten na 3 jaar onderzoeksmonitoring
Since 2018, we have been conducting an annual research monitoring at fixed points along 34 "benthos transects" spread across the Zeeschelde. The aim is to evaluate local changes in abiotics, such as elevation and sediment properties, over time and monitor their impact on macrozoobenthos. In this report, we examine how net sediment elevation changes over 1 year affect macrobenthos in the Zeeschelde. The results are variable, but the most striking response was an increase in macrobenthos biomass, especially of Oligochaeta, at high sedimentation (>20cm).
