Assessment of current and future invasive plants in protected dune habitats of the Atlantic coastal region - Including management accounts of selected species for the LIFE DUNIAS project (LIFE20 NAT/BE/001442)

This report brings together the results of an INBO and LIFE DUNIAS workshop on invasive vegetation in Atlantic dunes and salt marshes. Through a systematic risk screening (horizon scan) on more than 1,300 alien plant species, experts identified the highest-priority species that (may) have a serious ecological impact on the European protected habitats of Atlantic dunes and salt marshes. This list can work through preventive actions, rapid removal of newly emerging exotic species and monitoring systems. The report contains recommendations for better monitoring of invasive species in monitoring for the Habitats Directive. For a selection of species, there is a science-based overview of possible management methods.
