Nicolas Vanermen

In the period 2005 to 2024, my research at INBO focused on the effects of offshore wind farms on seabird distribution, investigated through ship-based surveys and GPS tagging. I was also closely involved in the governance of the European Seabirds At Sea (ESAS) database, currently hosted at ICES Data Centre. Aside from these main tasks I cooperated in all activities of the 'seabird team' led by Eric Stienen, such as breeding bird inventories and the monitoring of coastal breeding bird colonies. 

Since June 2024 I am employed in team 'estuaries', working on scenario-analyses in the framework of the Sigmaplan. The main objective of my current project is to inform the decision-process regarding a sustainable and ecosystem-friendly management of the Scheldt estuary.
